Responsible of Olas’s customer service Hannamari Peltomaa makes dreams come true for a living. She shares in the anticipation of a new home with future residents of Olas homes, and all kinds of customer wishes are part of her daily work.

“During the construction phase, the customer gets to choose surface materials for their new home and usually several other modifications as well,” Peltomaa explains.

From a wide range of options, customers can select tiles, parquet or vinyl flooring, faucets, and handles, among others. Some wish to change the placement of walls. There is plenty to plan—there are several types and shades of interior doors alone, not to mention splashback panels. Even saunas come with various panel options, and there are multiple glass door shades for wet rooms. According to Peltomaa, the abundance of choices usually comes as a positive surprise.

The list continues with electrical modifications and even preparations for solar panels during construction. One customer might need a fast-charging station for their electric car, another inquires about smart locks, a third about cooling systems, and a fourth about heat pumps. Some ask for dimmers for their lights, while others may want to turn a walk-in closet into an IT room with more power outlets. The number of individual requests is countless, and fulfilling them makes Peltomaa’s work meaningful.

The whole company behind customer wishes

Every now and then, Peltomaa calls the production team to confirm the feasibility of bigger changes.

”“At Olas, the entire company is involved in fulfilling customer wishes—and rightly so, because of course the home must be to the resident’s liking. We carry out everything that can reasonably be implemented. For us, this is normal service—and a very pleasant part of our work,” Peltomaa says with a smile.

She adds that she enjoys being an important partner to customers during such a meaningful stage in their lives. Some requests are easier to implement than others, but that doesn’t bother her. Successfully completing the more challenging projects feels especially rewarding.

“I go through the entire construction project alongside the customer. I remain their contact person until the one-year inspection—and of course, they can always call even after that. A satisfied new homeowner is an honor for us,” Peltomaa smiles.

The biggest decisions and changes are usually made before the house elements are assembled. At Olas’s showroom, a comprehensive range of options is on display, and visualization images help customers see the final outcome.

”All in all, thanks to the abundance of available materials, it’s safe to say that no two Olas homes are alike—and that makes my work truly enriching,” Peltomaa praises.

The yard as the finishing touch

Finally, the yard is completed, which serves as the finishing touch to the home. Peltomaa considers the yard important for the overall impression and notes that, at moving time, the residents’ main focus is usually on furnishing the interior.

“It’s naturally important that the yard is in good condition as well. Hedges are used to create a sense of privacy, and ready-to-lay turf ensures that nobody has to step into a yard that looks unfinished,” Peltomaa emphasizes.
